When selecting a watch winder that is suitable for your Breitling watch things are made really quite simple as the majority of their current models fit within the standard winding specifications shared by the vast majority of all automatic watches on sale today.  If you want to learn some of the basics our guide to selecting a watch winder would be the perfect place to go.

The majority of Breitling watches require either 650 or 800 TPD and need to be wound bi-directionally, here are a few of the most popular Breitling models and their winding specifications:

Model TPD Direction
Navitimer 8 B01 800 Bi-Directional
Aviator 8 Curtiss Warhawk 650 Bi-Directional
SuperOcean Heritage 42 650 Bi-Directional
SuperOcean Chrono 800 Clockwise
Premier B01 800 Bi-Directional
Chronomat 44 800 Bi-Directional
Galactic 36 Automatic 650 Bi-Directional

Please do not be concerned if a watch winder has slightly more TPD than is suggested for your watch.  There is protection built into each automatic watch that protects them against over-winding… Once the watch is fully wound then any extra turns per day generated by your watch winder would simply not be counted.

Once the basics of TPD and direction of winding have been covered you can start to have fun finding the perfect winder for your watch.  We all like different things and as you were faced with many options when choosing your watch there are similarly many options when it comes to choosing your watch winder.

Here are a few suggestions of how your watch can be complemented by its winder:

A SuperOcean Heritage with a blue face and strap – Try a SwissKubik MasterBox in Blue Aluminium

A SuperOcean Automatic 36 with an Orange Face and Strap – Try the Swiss Kubik Startbox in Orange or for some contrast the Benson Compact 1.BS in High Gloss Black, or perhaps the Carbon version - 1.CF

A Premier B01 Bentley Racing Green – Try the Rapport Evo Cube in Racing Green

A Brief History of Breitling

Founded in 1884 by Leon Breitling, Breitling SA is another one of the very well-known Swiss luxury watchmakers.  The company was founded in Saint-Imier, Bernese Jura and since was sold in 1979 by the Breitling family to Ernst Schneider who in turn over the years sold his shares to CVC Capital Partners.  The business now resides in Grenchen, Switzerland.

Breitling enjoy a rich and diverse heritage but are probably most well known for their aviation and diving watches, Navitimer and SuperOcean series of watches.

The Navitimer was born in the 1940s when Breitling added a circular slide rule to the bezel for use by pilots and it has remained a staple watch for pilots ever since.

Breitling has enjoyed a close association with Bentley motors since 2002 when they designed the clock for the all-new Bentley Continental GT.  The relationship continues and in 2015 Breitling produced a very special clock for Bentley’s Flagship SUV the Bentley Bentayga … the Mulliner Tourbillon dashboard clock which spins 3 times every 15 minutes.

As a Breitling owner you are in good company with the likes of Bear Grylls, Brad Pit, Gordon Ramsey, John Travolta, Sir Richard Branson and Tom Cruise to name but a few.

A fine watch like a Breitling deserves a beautiful watch winder.
