Baume and Mercier Hampton 10528

Overview

2020 saw Baume and Mercier introduce three new models in the Men’s Hampton range. The ‘Small Seconds’ or 10528 measures 32mm x 48mm, and at just under 10mm thick it offers versatility for the wearer. The case is polished on all faces lending it’s appeal to more formal occasions as well as everyday use. Setting and winding if required is done via a signed winding crown at 3 o’clock.

The gorgeous opaline silver dial almost shimmers under closer inspection, with the outer area blasted to give a much deeper textured finish. Around the outer edges we have a grey and black seconds track that compliments and frames the indices. The twelve o’clock is marker is represented in Arabic numerals with all other hours represented with applied batons arranged in such a way that they appear to be bursting from the centre outwards. Subtle chamfering of the indices allows highlighting depending on the viewed angles. Time is depicted with tapering sword style hands, bevelled along the centre-line, playing the light in wonderful ways.

The beauty of the dial is uncluttered despite having a small seconds sub dial and date window at 6 o’clock. On the reverse of the case we are afforded a view into the inner workings of the Swiss made automatic ETA 2895, housing 27 rubies and carrying a power reserve of 42 hours, decorated by Baume and Mercier with Côtes de Genève detailing.

The sumptuous black leather strap, highlighted with deep grey stitching is mounted to the case using a quick release mechanism that built into the strap – making interchanging straight forward and negating the need for tools. The Baume and Mercier tri-fold clasp secures the strap. Release is simple using the discreet side pushers.
